So after 13+ long hours of painting, I finally finished this painting! I'm pretty sure most of you guys already know who these characters are, but just in case you don't, from top to bottom, Leo Valdez, Frank Zhang, Hazel Levesque, Piper Mclean, Jason Grace, Annabeth Chase, and Percy Jackson from the Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan.
I just finished the book today, and I loved it! I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil it for the people out there who haven't read it yet, but I gotta say I wanna strangle Rick for that awful cliff-hanger at the end. And now we have to wait for another year for the House of Hades
So anyway, I've been wanting to draw these 7 Demigods from last year, but I never got the chance or time. So I'm really happy that I got to finish this painting. Just for the record, this is the first time for me painting this much people in one drawing. I tried my best to capture each of their personality, and also the little details like Percy's and Annabeth's necklaces, Jason's scar, and Leo's tool belt. But please forgive me if I missed any details, I just got really tired and have decided to just leave it here. For the background I intentionally made the colors similar to the cover of the book just so it'll get the same mood or vibe.
So there you go, I do hope you guys will like it, and please do leave a comment, or better yet a critique. I would really really appreciate it you guys. I would love to hear feedback and know what I can improve on my drawings. Thanks a lot!
Ok, I'm gonna start by saying, THIS IS AWESOME! Now, to each of the characters... Leo: Perfectly taken, just as I imagined it. The fire's a good touch. 9.5/10 Frank: Very well taken, the stern look on his face is awesome. I did imagine him a bit pudgier, but other than that, 9/10 Hazel: Just as I imagined, perfectly taken, cavalry sword and all, 9.75/10 Piper: Very well drawn, is that the dagger in her right hand? Anywho, 9/10 Jason: Amazingly awesome looking with the sword all lightningy like that , good calm, stern face. I say 9.5/10 Annabeth: She looks just as Imagined it in the book, her face is very clever looking, and the knife is cool... 9.8/10 Percy: AAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGG awesome... Completely well taken, 10/10
I solute you my friend, as you are amazing. I hearby rate this 10/10
This has go to be one of the most well done versions of the seven that I've seen.
You've captured all of their characteristics and they show emotion so well: the calm one, the cool, the determined. It's etched on their faces.
It's easy to see who is who in this picture even if you haven't read the book in a while, they look like their descriptions. One thing I do have to say, and I apologise if I'm wrong, is that Annabeth and Percy have that grey streak in their hair.
I like how you've set it out and how the two camps are somewhat combined, not separate groups like in other art.
The background fits. That's all i can say, it just does. It's just the sort of background I imagine for heroes. It melds well too: fire, lightening, watery and gloomy darkness, well, that's what I see.
All in all I think this is a wonderful piece an d super well done and was obviously thought out. I think I would read this book if I hadn't after I saw this.
