First attempt in watercolor! I'm quite proud with piece, because I've never used watercolor before, and I think this one turned out quite well. I edited the color a bit on photoshop, and added little details for the eyes, and some tiny hair strands. Because I couldn't do those with a paintbrush. (because I don't own one that is small enough) It's surprisingly fun to paint with watercolor, because the technique is somehow similar to coloring in photoshop, layer by layer. The only difference is when using watercolor is, when you make a mistake, it's fatal.
If you can't tell who that is, that's Reyna the Praetor of the Roman Camp from The Heroes of Olympus. The drawing itself is based on the original illustration of Reyna for the books, but I changed her face a bit.
The reason I'm doing traditional is because this is a school art assignment. The task is to paint anything, but in the picture, there has to be 4 materials, wood, metal, fabric, and rock. This drawing just popped into my head.
I hope you'll like it. Comments and faves are highly appreciated, and I would be insanely happy if you give me a review.. Pretty please with a cherry on top??
I think that you really captured the essence of Riena very well, she has that stern look that makes you stop in your tracks. The way she is holding her had seems to give the viewer that if you piss her off she will do that to your head and it will take little effort. Yet in her face she has softer details that show a tender side deep under all the hard core epicness. Silver and Gold are greaat, only thing i would say is to work just a titch on your dog anatomy, but besides that it is fantastic. I am not the best artist but i can appritiate good art and you did it way to go.
(dogs are still great just purportions are a bit off,)
Oh my OATH so FRIGGIN cool. Yes I realise my vocabulary has a lot of non-descript words. But at first glance, words escape. That is exactly who she is, wow. Her dogs waiting for her fingers to click.. just to permission to bite you should you annoy her... Wow again just wow, even her expression says "don't mess with me". I like the look of the dogs, they seem otherworldly, just as they ought, silver and gold dogs... really well done!!!
This is amazing. In the original picture of Reyna, it didn't really fit the picture of her I had in my mind. But in this, Reyna looks more clever and powerful and professional, Her personality really does show in her face. It's just that she looks a older than she actually is. Great job on this!
That is amazing for your first watercolor painting!! It looks amazing period. I love her dogs, especially the silver one. But for the life of me, I cannot remember it's name!
