It's Percy Jackson guys! My favorite book character of all time. God bless Rick for creating him. :XD: After 10 long hours of painting, I finally finished it! :la:

With the release of Mark of Athena, I wanted to re-draw Percy to celebrate. I've drawn Percy twice before, but none have satisfied me. I didn't base this drawing on Logan Lerman, I like him, but he isn't very suitable as Percy in my opinion. This is how I 'see' Percy in my mind when I read the books. I do realize he looks more grown-up here, I did that intentionally. This is how I pictured him looking like in The Last Olympian. That's why he's not wearing Camp Jupiter's purple t-shirt, and he doesn't have the tattoo and the tablet on the necklace. I am so so excited for the Mark of Athena, but I haven't got the book yet, so please guys, no spoilers!

Anyway, onto the drawing itself, I tried to put more details into this one, which is something I rarely do. But this is Percy I'm painting, so it doesn't really bother me. :aww: Played more with the lighting and also shadows. I realize that the water doesn't look like water, i got lazy so that's the best I can do at the moment. :| Please pardon that. The anatomy has still some flaws as well, but I am extremely happy with how his face turned out. It's just like how I imagined him! :la: Overall, I'm pleased with this piece.

Please leave me a critique guys, I would really really appreciate that. I'd love to know what I could improve on my drawings. Comments and faves are also very much appreciated. But please, if you guys have the time, leave me a critique okay? Thanks a lot you guys!

Oh! And there is the livestream of me drawing this piece. Check out the livestream link below!

First off: let me just say, that this is one of the best interpretations of Percy that I have ever seen, especially seeing as you said this was from the Last Olympian, and believe me I've seen plenty of the Last Olympian art, and Percy to me usually looks like well, he did when he was 12, this was a beautiful interpretation of him when he's 16.

Secondly, I love the colors, and the way you painted it, it gives the art a lot of emotion and liveliness and it shows how much time and effort you put into it.

Thirdly, I love the waves in the background, to me, they look perfect, especially the way you made the lighting bounce off of it, and I also love the background, now I usually don't spend a lot of time on backgrounds, but it just shows that you spent a lot of time, and patience doing this.

Fourthly, I love the lighting, it is amazing and lively, over all its a very beautiful piece, congratulations

Firstly: Wow. Just wow. Amazing.

The lighting and the shading is incredible. Espeicially when you reflect the blue from the water onto different parts of Percy.

The water doesn't look like water, as you had said; however, I think it fits. Water is untamed, just like Percy, and I think your water has that quality about it. It reminds me of Sasuke's Chidori from Naruto, and that makes me think of the water being electric, which just makes it more awesome, even though Percy is a son of Posiedon, not Zeus, but who cares? It looks awesome!

As for the anatomy, I would say something is off about his right hand. But because of the positioning and angle I don't think there's much you can do.

And if you REALLY want to get nit-picking, Greeks fought with a Xiphos sword (but only as a secondary weapon to their javalin/spear). Your sword looks more like a Gladius, the usual Roman sword. The Xiphos curves out for the last half of the sword, whereas the Gladius stays straight, which is why the Xiphos is often called leaf-like. And for either the Gladius or the Xiphos, this sword is too long, although that may just be the angle he's holding it at. The typical Xiphos was 50 to 60 cm long (20 to 24 inches). However, the oldest of the xiphos swords are bronze, so the color is correct, as is the historical context that Percy's sword is made from celestial bronze.

Overall, it's amazing, and its already been added to my favorites.
