Peeta's awake already, sitting on the side of the bed, looking bewildered as the trio of doctors reassure him, flash lights in his eyes, checks his pulse. I'm disappointed that mine was not the first face he saw when he woke up, but he sees it now. His features registrer disbelief and something more intense that I can't quite place. Desire? Desperation? Surely both, for he sweeps the doctors aside, leaps to his feets and moves towards me. I run to meet him, my arms extended to embrace him. His hands are reaching for mine too, to caress my face, I think.
My lips are forming his name when his fingers lock around my throat. ―Mockingjay, pg 206
One of the most dramatic scenes in the whole series, Peeta trying to kill Katniss. But as I've said before : I think the scene is very unpredictable but interesting to read as well. Because we're seeing a different side of Peeta, he's usually so gentle and caring, but after being hijacked, his personality changed, he became hostile and confused. Although in the end he recovered greatly after the rehab, it seems that some parts of him is still not quite like his old self. Although it breaks my heart seeing him that way, I think that it's an interesting twist in the story, with Peeta hijacked, Katniss now will be able to appreciate him more, and not take his affections for granted.
This is the cleanup version of one of the sketch in I intentionally made the colors this way, just trying out a new effect.
I hope you'll like it. Comments and faves appreciated!
